Trousers To Fit

Here they are! My first knitted pants! Do you remember this post? I restarted knitting these pants for the sixth time when I posted it, and now I am done! And really proud of myself. The pattern I used is by Debbie Bliss (Trousers to fit, you can find it in this book), I just made the cuffs at the legs a little longer than suggested, and the next trousers will have a longer waistband as well. Compared to the knitted trousers which are available at the little stores in our neighborhood, they are really affordable, because you just need two balls of yarn – so these trousers costed me just 10 Euro. They may not be as perfect as trousers you can buy, but I’m extremely proud and satisfied that I made it to finish something I restarted this often and that it even came out to be pretty enough to be worn by our baby. And yes, I admit that I already bought new yarn for a second pair of trousers. Different colors and …

Changing Mat DIY

Look what I made! I finished this changing mat yesterday, and I’m excited about the way it looks! I totally love the combination of colors and patterns. It is padded with volume fleece to make it soft and warm for the baby to lay on it, even on a cold floor during winter, plus it’s not too girly, so my boyfriend can also use it without being embarrassed. Here are some details of the changing mat: I sewed along the line of some of the chevrons to prevent the volume fleece from slipping out of its place when washing the mat. I used pink yarn to add a little splash of color to the front side, and I like that it also adds a chevron pattern to the inside fabric, but in a really quiet way. This was the first time I used my new Kam pliers and after figuring out how the whole Kam Snap system works, I am really satisfied with the result. It’s a great and easy way to add snaps and an …

A Sweet Gift

Guess what I received via mail today? A super cute gift from friends who spent an afternoon with us last weekend as we had a little barbecue on our balcony. It was beautifully wrapped and I really love what was inside – the baby journal which was on my baby wish list that I posted three weeks ago!  I really like the modern design of this baby journal, the colors and that it is printed on paper from responsible forestry. A bookmark and a protective cover were included as well. And the pages have this gold edge, which wouldn’t have been necessary to make it a beautiful book, but it threw this beautiful golden shimmer on the table as the sun hit it. I am really looking forward to fill this journal with facts, stories, memories and pictures of our little Miss P., so thank you so much Nadine and Felix, for this wonderful gift!

Pink Elephant Cardigan

I just made it! I finished my first cardigan ever! I’m really proud of myself, I just kept on knitting until I was finished and did not give up in between. And it was worth it, I love the result, especially in combination with the super cute little pink elephant buttons I had in stock. I bought them a while ago, without knowing what to use them for, but it was love at first sight so I had to take them and now they turned a cute cardigan into a perfect one! I would love to go on knitting cute litlle baby stuff, I already found some patterns that I hope I have the time to knit before little Miss P. arrives. By the way, during this whole knitting-mania, my boyfriend took this Polaroid photo of me, knitting a sleeve of the cardigan and I just love it. It is such a beautiful picture, it will become one of my favorite photos ever! You can see more of his photos on his Flickr Stream or …
